For decades, Indigenous people have been offered training. Programs to help them get a new job, go back to school, or even start their own business. These programs wanted to “help” them be successful in mainstream. BUT where was the corresponding training for non-Indigenous? Where was guidance on Indigenous engagement, recruitment, or retention? Corporations are struggling to find employees but they struggle more with keeping Indigenous on staff. Isn’t it time we talk about it?
