Canada, Are You Improving?

 
I am awake, I am alive, and this morning, I give thanks … for progress.

And to be clear, not the kind that destroys forests and watersheds, not the kind that threatens our very existence on this planet. I don’t consider those initiatives progress at ALL! No, what I am referring to is personal progress, along one’s healing or life path and 6 weeks from now, I take yet another step.

“If you change nothing, nothing changes.”

On days like today, I love to reflect on where I was 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and so on and so forth, not to endure the trauma of the past yet again, but rather to give thanks for just how far I have come.

For if we forget where we were, how can we truly appreciate how far we have come?

Of course, for all this to work, you are required to be moving on UP, not settling, not losing ground, but improving in whatever way works for you.

Some improve by walking away from a job with life-threatening stress levels. Even though it may mean less pay, that IS moving up in my books. Less stress IS wise so kudos to those who can say they did.

Some improve by moving towards a new job, towards school or the chance of a new relationship. If it has the potential to improve your future, I celebrate you!

For me, it is the home I live in that is changing. I went from a condo I adored to an inexpensive place to ride out the pandemic lockdowns to my new place that may just be my forever home.

So here’s to progress! Here’s to moving on up! Here’s to those who set goals, made plans, and then finished every step of the journey! Here’s to success on our terms! Here’s to me hoping that this week YOU were successful!
