“Breaking the Chain” is about acknowledging the past while building a future.
For Indigenous people, the “chain of teachings” was broken. Our families were separated for various reasons. As a result, our youth were unable to learn the teachings of the elders, teachings that would have educated them on what it means to be a proud and strong Indigenous man or woman. Parenting skills were no longer passed on. Youth were no longer taught how to handle conflict or emotions or challenges and in the schools, all the children were taught were examples that should not be replicated.
Violence, addictions, even youth suicide have resulted but we can break this pattern. We can break this chain too and this seminar is the first step!
IT IS TIME TO REALIZE IT IS NOT OUR FAULT!
In this thought-provoking seminar, participants are educated on the ways human beings of all races and creeds react to long term oppression. With this new information, participants can accurately label what is going on in their families, communities and relationships rather than continuing to condemn each other for a basic, human reaction. Then participants are educated on how to break these abusive patterns, learning the six recognized ways to overcome and heal from the oppression we have all felt.
Powerful and life- changing.
