This Year’s Sept 21 …

I am awake, I am alive, and this morning I am smiling as soooooo many memories of this day come flooding back …

On this day, 58 years ago, my big brother was born. I wouldn’t be around to appreciate him for another 3 years but I have ever since. He was the big brother with the cool friends. He was the big brother who WAS (is?) cool. He was the big brother that everyone loved … but not as much as me.

My brother has teased me, encouraged me, harassed me and loved me my entire life. He was there the day we said good bye to my eldest brother, holding me close as I BEGGED him to take care of himself (and he has!).

Ernie is the best of my parents – the man everyone loves (just like Dad), the hard worker committed to getting a job done (like both my parents), the man who loves with everything he has, even if he doesn’t always know how (like my Mom).

This is me, his little sister, still in awe of the man Creator gifted me. This is me, wishing my bro a Happy Birthday with all the love I can muster.

Happy Birthday Ernie!
I love you and I miss you.

Here’s to many many more amazing September 21st’s together.

And to you my friend, take a minute today to appreciate the siblings you were gifted. Whether you are close or not, they were sent as teachers. We can take negative or positive from them, the choice is ours, but always there are lessons.

(FYI, Big Bro is rockin the plaid in this blast from the past.)
