I am awake, I am alive, and this morning, only one thing resonates in my head …
“You can do this.”
I pray you believe that. I pray you believe with everything you have because it is the counterbalance, the flip side if you will, to something else I totally believe …
“You will forever be limited by the barriers you choose to defend.”
So, when someone tells me they can’t do this or that because of this or that, I nod and tell them they are right. Not because this or that can actually stop them, but because they BELIEVE that this or that can indeed stop them.
Every single time.
So today my friend, look around you and say, “I did this”. Own that you have created whatever your life is right now. If you love it, smile. If you don’t, take comfort in the fact that YOU are able to create another reality.
I created the circumstances that lead to my children and I living in low rent housing. It allowed me a financial break, long enough to get on my feet and get out. No shame there.
I created the circumstances that resulted in my children and I living in a violent home, in an alcohol-haze-filled home and I created the circumstances that got us out.
Responsibility is key because when we take responsibility, we take our power back. We are no longer a victim to what someone else did or does. We are the creator, and we can create something else.
So today my friend, take a deep breath and know you have everything you need to begin creating the life you desire – the will to find a way, the brain to learn the skills you will need, the voice to ask for help, and the arms to hang on tight to those who can guide you out of whatever mess you are in.
You got this.
Others can slow you down. They can force you to take another route. They can choose not to play along. They can choose not to support you. They can choose to ridicule you.
That is their choice but yours remains … yours.
