Here at Indigenous Engagement Canada, we understand that you cannot possibly know what you don’t know. A group of non-Indigenous managers or directors simply cannot design an inclusive and respectful Indigenous Engagement or Retention Policy without the input of Indigenous peoples experienced in such work.
The same applies for program development. You may WANT to engage with Indigenous communities and/or individuals. You may want to make them welcome but without input at the planning stage, you stand a very good chance at failing at your objective or worse, offending the very people you were determined to help.
